1st-they need a new phone. I had to shout my address and spell it 4 times.
I just paid 12.50 for a piece of crap veggie burger that is falling apart all over.
The fries (which is why I ordered from here. usually in house are excellent.) were so soggy and stale, I had to throw them away.
I'm still hungry. And raging pissed. I called back. The poor thing on the other line must have had nothing to do with the problems I had so complaining made me feel bad but I had to. I mean I waited 50 min.s for my food. It is Sat. So I understand the wait. She offered to send over new fries but I'm not going to make that kid ride his bike over here again for a sack of fries...
The point is: stale fries and a burger that won't hold together on a soggy bun for 12.50!! Should have gone to Mikki-Ds.
Rip off.
Get it together.

we went lobster night and mine was totally gross, puny and tasteless. i think i got 3 bites of meat - and waited 50 minutes for it. such a disappointment. i know 13 dollar lobster is super cheap, but how do you fuck up boiled maine lobster? now i know.
plus, one waitress is not enough. i had to wait and ask for a water refill, and it was impossible to ask for the check.
never going back.

My boyfriends ordered the pretzels and milk but the waitress was busy doing a chinese fire drill so I called into the forest for my plastic unicorn friends. Time levitates and the swans remember, and the wombat chuckles. the waiter refused to sing Labamba!
I will not now be returning I turn around. the ship is sailing, good bye!

i called to order food, told them my address to make sure they could deliver to my area- she took my order and then 10 min later called back to then tell me they can't deliver to my area- you'd think she'd tell me that up front. In addition, the chick was really rude and just acted like she didn't care at all.
"Hello, you just placed an order? You are out of our delivery area- thank you, goodbye."
Don't bother!

$13 lobsters?!? Are you kidding me?! Anyone who complains about Wombat should be shot. This place rules!

I returned to Wombat after almost of year and was absolutely floored by the drastic improvement. Anyone who hasn't gone recently SERIOUSLY has to go back. Two words: TUNA B*LLS. This mouth watering appetizer of vermicelli covered tuna was cooked to perfection. I was with a group of four people and after trying it, we ordered two more! My girlfriend ordered the chicken (or tamarind as they call it) for her entree, which is usually the last thing I'll order at a restaurant, but when it came to the table I was seriously jealous. Not to say that I didn't love the lamb shank, but it was best chicken dish I've ever had! I mean, hey...I was raised in France and we know birds, but WOW WOMBAT! Bravo!! Our server was hilarious and extremely friendly. Every table around us seemed to be having just as good a time as we were. It was a fun, upbeat environment with great music too! This place is the best addition not only to Grand Street, but the whole neighborhood as well. Can't wait to go back!

We came here for an early dinner because everywhere else we tried either didn't open til 6 or had no AC. The waitress told us that if we sat at the bar we could get happy hour, so we moved. The bartender then told us there's no happy hour on weekends but since we'd already been told there was, no worries. But rather than giving us half price beer (the happy hour special), he gave us 2 for 1, so essentially we had to pay full price (I didn't even take my second beer). I normally wouldn't quibble over something like that, except that I didn't want a second beer, all I wanted was get out of there and find something decent to eat after being served the worst gazpacho I have ever tasted. It was completely inedible - tasted like watered down shrimp cocktail sauce with some onion and avocado thrown in. I've made gazpacho before, it's really not that hard, I had no idea it could ever be messed up this badly. Kind of like a small glass of ketchup soup, for $9.50. My boyfriend's fish po-boy was actually quite good, but too small to serve as a full meal. We won't be going back.

Service was HORRIBLE. Staff was too busy socializing to tend to customers. Food is only good when its not busy. Otherwise frankly, they don' t seem to give a damn...and now, neither do we.
Short version... don't.

Maybe I caught them on an off-night, but Wombat has gone seriously downhill. My friend's beet salad was pretty bad. The dressing was very watery and the beets were sliced by what seems to be the prosciutto slicer - so thin. The lettuce wasn't that great either.
My Aussie burger, which I used to love was dry, flavorless, and overcooked. The fries were good though.

Not as good as Outback

We just tried it for the first time and were impressed. Beet salad excellent. Both pork and salmon were perfectly cooked, not at all dry, and came with delicious and varied sides. The chocolate dessert is terrific.

i love the aussie burger, the fish and chips, the trifle, and the duck with hollandais sauce, but the owner told me never to eat the duck with hollandaise sauce if I value my health.
The placemats are nasty.
I love the waitresses.
I hope that the fries are crispy when they're delevered; too often they are not always crispy.

We usually like Wombat but our last visit was miserable! The service was horrible, the music was abysmal (Bush or DMB anyone?) and a friend of the bartender was talking so loudly that the whole place was privy to his disgusting conversation. For such an expensive meal, you'd think they'd pay more attention to their atmosphere.

The Aussie Burger is the best burger in the neighborhood, by far. We have returned many times just for this. Thank god, finally a great burger in the neighborhood.

My daughter and I visited your restaurant on Sunday for brunch. We liked the atmosphere. Service was excellent. We had the sticky pig balls and they were absolutely delicious. We will return to sample more of the menu. We wish you much success; you have a winner on your hands.

Stopped in for dinner last Saturday. Service was iffy but expect that to get better. Food was unique and tasty, very fresh. We are non-meat eaters, so highlights were the miso consomme and the cedar plank salmon. We will definitely be back.

I had the Aussie Burger for lunch. It was good. I thought kangaroo would taste different than hamburger, but it was nearly indistinguishable. My friend really liked the pepper grinder but said the fish n chips was not that great. I think maybe he generally doesn't care for fish anyhow. The plates were very short and wide. Attentive waitress.
I always try to guess which reviewers work at or own the restaurant. The ones that somehow have eaten the entire menu stick out to me.
I wish them success.

Wow Wombat is awesome!
must try the fish and chips, the salmon was spectacular. Also liked the turkey burger and the Beet salad
and brunch is great, french toast and benidict are tasty.
Friendly atentative service.
The design had humans in mind, lots of room. Modern and fun, the aluminum and the huge windows create a feeling of space.
I'm a local yocal and I apreciate Wombat's simplicity and unpretencious quality.
I'm looking forward to bringing my friends.

I went for brunch. The food is very heavy, very greasy, and very fattening - and mostly meat. I'm not a vegetarian - but it's nice to have some choices.
I also think the atmosphere is uninviting, over designed and uncomfortable. I won't go back.

I went to the Wombat this past saturday night, I was very optimistic. We had to wait a bit for a table so we decided to sit at the bar and have a drink and some appetizers. That was all well and good. Luckily we had appetizers as our food (especially mine) took forever to come out and the waiter actually hadn't put in the order for everything we asked for. I'm thinking after they get their act together it will be a much better dining experience. the food was pretty good actually, brunch sounds great.

Oh it's good alright. The food puts some new twists on classics with some inventive new items thrown in. Lots of quality ingredients. Very reasonable. The people who own it and work there are great too.

had brunch, we split the steak sandwich and the duck hash. both were really good, came with a salad and only cost $8 each. i recommend trying this place out although the dinner menu looked expensive.

Their website isn't very encouraging. I hope it was the result of an overzealous, amateur web designer. If the actual restaurant is equally trashy then it might be a mistake to eat there... ? The graffitti logo looks cheap and junky too - if that's anything to gauge the place by...
