RIP Ralph's
My day is basically ruined. Via The Downtown Diaries:
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I went to Ralph’s Italian Ice yesterday, located on Graham Ave and Conselyea St, to find out it was CLOSED and turning in to a DELI. Yes, that’s right, a DELI. Who’s bright idea was that? … When I got home, I turned to Yelp for some answers ‚Äì it looks like the transition from Ralph’s to All Star’s Deli went down last month. Booooooooo.
That’s karma for you. Ralph’s opens less than 5 years ago on the same block as another ice cream place, drives them out of business, and then gets knocked out by friends of the owners of the old place. I am just happy to have another business that will be open year round.
I actually talked to one of the two former owners of that Ralph’s franchise the other day, and he told my girlfriend and me that he was tired of the seasonal nature of the business, that he only really got four months of good business out of a year-long lease, and that he just couldn’t do it anymore. However, he also said that his former business partner had opened up another Ralph’s franchise in Middle Village. So, there you go.
Although, there is another ice cream joint on the same block. A little smaller, but still good ice cream.
DAMN!!! Just what we need another freakin Deli. Where am I to get my tasty Italian ice fix now, I ask you!!!
I think ralph should take up soup making and open a italian ice/soup shop… then I can have my glorious mint chocolate chip ice in the summer and chicken soup in the winter.
