Since we're all depressed already….

Our scary prediction for the RNC’s choice in the 2008 presidential campaign:
JEB BUSH

We know that people keep whispering the name Rudy, but a pro-choice candidate would force the Religious Right to boycott the vote.
I hope we’re wrong.
This article from Newsweek sums up how we feel:
“Liberalism is dead. Liberal internationalism is dead. The Democratic Party is dying. There is no center to speak of in American politics anymore. America is now a “Red State” nation that is totally out of synch with Europe and the rest of the world — embracing religious fundamentalism, reactionary values on gay marriage and other social issues. America under a second Bush presidency will continue to flout international opinion, “pre-emptively” making war on countries as it sees fit. A new Dark Age looms.” continue
Our next post will feature bunny rabbits and candy. We all need to feel better.

  1. adam says:

i would guess george p. bush. he’s rich, he’ll have the name recognition, and the ladies think he’s cute. three generations of bush in the white house will no doubt be looked back on as the begining of the end for this country.

  2. Jah says:

yup – Liberalism is dead! good riddence! time to embrace the true left people. the democrats will only continue to inch us ever closer to the right where nothing but a corportate-sponsored Christo-facsist worldview awaits.
embrace progressive issues and candidates now whether they are doomed to lose or not. if not now, when?
i voted for Ralph Nader in 2000 and 2004, regardless of his negatives — which i think are few — because he’s the only candidate who sez that profits matter more than people. it’s that simple. democrats know that, but they don’t act on it – they too are corporate-bought.
instead, this election they gave us Republican-light – including a mutated form of the politics of fear – ABB – Anybody But Bush = politics of fear. denounce that shit now! we must fight FOR something and not against something.
if the dems do indeed fold, have no fear, the republicans are set for an implosion too, between their moderate/libertarian wing and their neocrazy/xian mullah wing. let’s just hope the world is still glued together before that happens.
