Spider Bags – Tonight at Cameo Gallery
Spider Bags’ 2012 release “Shake My Head” was grossly underrated. We blame their HORRIBLE name. Still, this North Carolina-based garage band put out one of our favorite records of 2012. Catch them tonight at Cameo in Williamsburg.
This blog has become a fascinating snapshot of a neighborhood in transition.
Posts are either:
1) Some totally unknown sub-sub-genre band playing at an indie holdout bar like cameo/pete’s, etc….
2) The latest local celebs’ multi-million dollar condo/restaurant purchase
3) The latest overpriced concept restaurant/bar which is at once arty-indie enough for the longtime arty-indie residents, yet safe and expensive enough for the new condo dwellers.
I’m really starting to worry that Williamsburg sucks. I love it here, but does it suck? Or is it great?

I used to be able to pee in the street anywhere I wanted in Williamsburg. Now it is way more challenging.I feel your pain. Is this what you are talking about? I kid, I kid..It’s what you make of it. You could still park easily on a Friday or Saturday night, get cheap booze and eats and have a great time in a safe area that still feels like the Disneyland of Debauchery. It blows the filthy,dangerous,scuzzy East Village away.
