Organizers of the Lacoste L!VE Williamsburg Park Concert Series announced this evening that the Refused and Off! show would be cancelled due to the weather. Doors at 9 p.m.
According to those on the scene, there is a humongous line. Some people are saying the club is already at its 550 person capacity. Here are somepictures of the line.
After months of planning – including turning a random parking lot into a feasible concert venue – the Lacoste L!VE Williamsburg Park Concert Series opened tonight with Counting Crows. If you live in the area and opened your window at around 9 p.m., chances are you heard them playing “Mr. Jones.” Here’s what concertgoers and locals are tweeting about the show: (more…)

The 2012 Crif Dog Classic (Roberta’s in Bushwick)
Anything Nathans can do Crif Dog can do better, or so we’ll see, as “NYC’s #1 weiner” joint (with locations on St. Marks and Williamsburg) raises the flag on their own July 4th celebration. The Crif Dog Classic is a bit of a backyard roast for Takeru Kobayashi, the Japanese competitive eater who had a falling out with the Coney Island contest after six consecutive victories. In addition to a competition between Kobayashi and nine of North America’s most talented eaters, the afternoon features celebrity guests and live music from FOTP, the Electric Mess, Andy Suzuki & the Method, and our favorite rabble-rousing band from Brooklyn, the Wild Yaks. Sunday afternoon the first Zombie Dash occurred on the industrial streets of Greenpoint. This informal 2.5 mile race originally started as an idea between friends and quickly evolved into a large event with about 150 participating runners. You could sign up as a human or as a zombie. These were not the slow moving zombies of years past but super fast and in shape runner zombies who definitely kept the participants on their toes. Keep your ears open for a more formal, sponsored zombie dash around Halloween.
