Hit Up the Waterfront Shows for Free

image c/o www.mightysweet.com

Brooklyn Exposed is providing details on how you can make our hood all pretty, bring peace to the community versus fun war and, more importantly, see Fleet Foxes for free.

Burned Green – a site listing Brooklyn volunteering opportunities – and Open Space Alliance for North Brooklyn are asking folks to spare one hour cleaning up the streets of the Burg in exchange for free admission to the 2011 Williamsburg Waterfront Concert Series.  Select volunteers will be split into groups of four and provided with gloves, trash bags and trash grabbers to clean up North 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th streets between Kent and Bedford Avenue.

Volunteers can choose to:

1) Watch the show(s) of your choice and do an hour of cleaning beginning at 9:45pm ; OR
2) Clean up after any one concert in exchange to see a future show(s) of your choice.

Space is limited. So to be considered for this in-demand opportunity, email info@burnedgreen.com with the subject line “Williamsburg Waterfront Volunteer” and the following information:

-Full Name:
-Cell Phone Number:
-Concert(s) You Wish To Volunteer At With Corresponding Arrival Time(s):
-Concert(s) You Wish To Attend:

Hey, maybe if you get those streets sparkly, we can have those Jelly concerts again.  Oh to dream.

Tonight: The Art of Elysium at 3rd Ward

courtesy whowhatwear.com

Do some good with your Thursday night and attend the The Art of Elysium Orientation at 3rd Ward. The L.A.-based (and star-studded) non-profit works to brighten the lives of children with serious medical conditions through creating art. And not just macaroni necklaces, The Art of Elysium is expanding and looking for NYC volunteers involved in acting, fashion, filmmaking, music and writing, too. You live in Williamsburg: you fit in there somewhere. Why not share your talents with those who may need it most? Plus, the good karma is instant – there’s free wine.

The Art of Elysium Orientation
Thursday, October 14, 7 to 9 pm
3rd Ward – 195 Morgan Ave
