The Most Important Pageant On Earth is Almost Here

Misha’s little Mr and Miss Williamsburg Pageant was featured in an article in the New York Post today, titled “Sillyburg” (Cute, Post). It’s the same ol’ same ol’, only this time we meet some contestants. And guess who’s in it!! The Post ingeniously completes their article with a picture of the 3 contestants (Lola, Sarah Yoo, and Vincent Galgano), a close up of Misha, a picture of MGMT singer Andrew Vanwyngarden, and some Banksy street art. Wtf?! Is that all Williamsburg is to you people? Some hipsters, MGMT, and Banksy? Banksy’s from freaking England! Oh, the multi-layers of irony just make my head spin.
Read Sillyburg, at the NY Post, and as always, our interview.

I didnt recognize Misha without her sunglasses and her boobs plastered on my screen.
    quote from article:
“Are they looking at me because they like what I’m wearing and want to ask where it’s from? Or are they looking at me because they hate what I’m wearing? It’s such petty competition, but the stakes are so deadly. They’re so high.”
I would like to see hipsters from the south side compete in this. ones that have lived in the neighborhood for longer than 1 year.

There is so much animosity now towards notion of “hipster.” I am totally for hipsters. American apparel is the epitome of socialist wardrobe, its just t shirts. And the idea that the creative class is through pursuing cultural advancement is an amazing late-capital rebellion. Why create something the marketers are just looking to co-op. The country is crashing and burning and the liberal elite are willing to let it drop dead! Brilliant! I think thats where the core of the animosity lies, the death of bourgeois aspiration! I can’t wait for this contest
