United Parcel Service is a blue company? Every employee of UPS involved with operations (drivers, sorters, loaders etc) are teamsters. I don’t think I need to tell you where they stand politically. It is irresponsible to try to sway consumers with a poll that is inherantly flawed(money given by C level executives???).
The whole idea of “Red” and “Blue” states/thinking/etc is just plain stupid and typically an American way of thinking.
This or That.
When will Americans realize that life is not an either/or proposition?
There are many nuances and gray areas to think about…and to me, this whole “red” and “blue” thing is just another way to divide people on the basis of political nonsense and irrelevancies.
…as if these so-called “Blue” coroprations aren’t ripping people off and fucking their workers as well as the so-called “red” ones!
it’s like…..fear…..and…love. you can’t just lump everything into two catagories.
This is a list of companies that are more or less lop-sided in their political contributions. It would be far more interesting to see the companies that are giving evenly to both sides securing power no matter what the election results.
Oh yeah, the people at UPS giving money to the reds would like to see the teamsters burn in hell, god forbid people should be able to earn a decent wage for such “blue collar” (although vital) tasks like driving and loading the trucks. The execs would love to pay an illegal immigrant $1 an hour for that sort of thing.
Ned, you are speaking of something you obviously know very little about. There are more drivers than Clevel managers at UPS. These drivers belong to the union and pay dues. A portion of these Union dues went toward the Kerry campaign and other lefty causes. And for your information these drivers are often paid more than the “reds” in middle management. The people behind BUYBLUE obviously couldn’t give a fuck about preserving American jobs when it asks you to boycott a company with one of the largest Union work forces and asks you to support a company like IBM which outsources profitable jobs to Asia.
Ned 2,
I was not the one who said the “C-level” managers gave all the money. UPS corporate management are the reds of the company, obviously. CEO’s, CFO, etc. I don’t think a guy working third shift on the dock gives a fuck about the anti-union Bush administration, because a large portion of his union dues went to the blues. The “bottom line bitches” in corporate are not union.
Ned 1
The poll is “Based only on amounts given by their C-level executives in 2003-2004″. You may have not have stated this Ned but it is the methodology of the poll you seem to be defending. Where do you think many of these “bottom line bitches” get their start in their organizations. Many have gained their positions from years of sacrifice and hardwork. To generalize all executives as evil reds exploiting the bottom rungers is tired. Grow up.
News Corp? Isn’t that the one owned by Murdoch? As in, Fox News and the NY Post? WTF? Why is it “blue?”
