Water Taxi Comes To Williamsburg, July 17

Did anyone try it out today? From 1010 Wins:
Water taxi service is coming to Williamsburg.
New York Water Taxi will begin operating service to Schaefer Landing in the Brooklyn neighborhood on Monday.
The stop will be added to the company’s existing East River route, which includes stops at Hunter’s Point in Queens and East 34th Street and Pier Eleven in Manhattan.
Service between Williamsburg, Pier Eleven and East 34th Street will run from 6:23am and 9:23 am, and 4:25 pm and 7:49 pm.
You can pick it up at Schaefer Landing. [Note, the Schaefer Landing website terrifies us.]
Predictably, now that investors, cigar bars, Wall Streeters, and luxury high rises have taken over DUBBO (Down Underneath the Billyburg Bridge) the city is starting to invest in transportation. It’s a shame this didn’t take place when the neighborhood was still working class. And why isn’t the ferry extending all the way to Greenpoint? At least DUBBO-ites can take the JMZ into the city or afford a taxi. The largely working class residents of Greenpoint are stuck riding the G, which doesn’t even go to Manhattan.
Evidently, there are plans to extend the ferry service to Greenpoint soon. You know, after the Greenpoint waterfront becomes fully gentrified and infested with luxury condos. Maybe they’ll get a cigar bar too.
